Biolace by Carole Collet

I was lucky enough to be temporary research assistant on this forward-thinking project by TFRC Deputy Director Carole Collet. Assisting her on preparing and styling plants like the black strawberry as well as retouching imagery for the resulting film has been a unique experience.







‘BioLace is a speculative design-led research project that investigates the intersection of synthetic biology and textile design to propose future fabrication processes for textiles.
The motivation behind this research lies in the hypothesis that living technology can foster a new approach to address some of the key sustainable challenges of the 21st century.’

The project has been exhibited at Futuro Textil from October to December 2012 and is currently shown at Citee des Sciences, Paris.
