The Seldom Being
Inspiration for my collection was a novel that consists of essays, written to provide an exercise base for the education of an artificial being.
I am adressing the ambivalent relationship between man and machine. Does Technology serve or control us? Everything that the modern man creates, be it ever so artificial, is still a natural result of evolutionary processes. It is doubtful wether a machine mind will ever be able to replace us and to use the only human specific ability to think and reflect about life and oneself.
An ideal picture of the artificial being could be what Immanuel Kant called “the seldom being“. The Seldom Being is ingenuous and pure, it has its own opinion beyond the collective beliefs and standards. It jolts us, encourages us to reflect about things we have long taken for granted and the rigid system we live in.
